11+ years building high-scale backend systems across healthcare SaaS. Scaled Docquity's platform to 600K+ healthcare professionals across Southeast Asia — now building my own dent.
I joined Docquity as one of the early engineers and spent nearly a decade helping it become Southeast Asia's largest digital network for healthcare professionals — scaling from a handful of doctors to 600K+ HCPs across 8 countries.
Along the way I wore many hats: backend architect, engineering manager, team builder, and cross-functional bridge between product, business, and engineering. I've moved infrastructure from clunky monoliths to resilient microservices and built systems that process 15M+ API calls daily.
Today I'm focused on my own startup, while selectively taking on fractional CTO and technical advisory roles where I can have real impact — helping early-stage founders build the right foundations without the wrong shortcuts.
Nearly a decade at one company, growing from engineer to acting engineering manager — and now building solo.
Joined at early stage, helped scale the platform to 600K+ healthcare professionals across Southeast Asia. Owned end-to-end delivery of backend platforms — from planning and milestone tracking to cross-team dependency management. Led cross-functional teams of 15+ engineers, conducted 50+ technical interviews, and drove the platform modernization from monolithic architecture to distributed microservices (Docquity 2.0).
Built backend systems for CRM and learning platforms. Developed a lesson management system serving 18K+ students and integrated secure payment gateways.
Developed 20+ web applications including CMS and e-commerce platforms. Worked directly with clients to deliver custom software solutions.
Deep expertise in backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and distributed architecture — with enough breadth to lead full-stack teams.
A selection of the most impactful platforms I've architected and delivered over the years.
Designed and built the backend powering Docquity's professional social network for doctors. Built backend APIs using Core PHP, MySQL, and Redis, migrating the platform from PHP 5.x to modern architecture.
Architected a large-scale webinar hosting system enabling remote medical conferences with multi-host capability, live streaming, and event recordings using WebRTC, Agora SDK, and AWS.
Designed a distributed notification delivery platform supporting high-volume engagement campaigns using Redis job queues, AWS SNS/SES/SQS, and background worker systems.
Designed and implemented Docquity's personalized content recommendation system using behavior-based ranking, Redis caching, and personalized feed generation algorithms.
Led backend development for a telemedicine platform supporting doctors and patients with video/audio/chat consultations, prescription and appointment systems, and insurance integrations.
Led the transition from a monolithic architecture to distributed microservices using Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB — including RBAC-like authorization and data migration.
I'm selectively taking on fractional CTO and technical advisory roles. If you're an early-stage founder who needs senior engineering leadership without the full-time cost — let's talk.
